Perth Floral Art Club’s Summer outing this year was to the Japanese Garden at Cowden (near Dollar). More details of the garden can be found here.
After a lovely spell of fabulous weather the day dawned, not as sunny as we had hoped given the last few weeks’ weather, but a bit on the grey and windy side. On arrival we congregated outside the tearoom to await our tour guide. A big thanks to Ross for booking a tour as this was much easier than a group of ladies all trying to read the information boards at the same time. The garden is laid out over seven acres, however it has been cleverly designed so that it looks as if the surrounding landscape is all part of the garden.
As you walk into the garden you do get a feeling of well-being and calmness. A large pond dominates the garden with two symbolic bridges, which you can cross if you wish, although one is quite scary. The whole garden is a sea of green with lots of moss and grass and trees along with the backdrop of the surrounding countryside interspersed with the odd acer tree: a beautiful calming space.
No flower club outing is complete until the ladies have had a cup of tea and a cream scone, the perfect end to a lovely club outing. Sincere thanks to Janice and Ros for organising the event. See you all in September Ladies.
